When: Whenever its not too cold or raining. If you want to visit many Gaudi buildings in one day you will be outside a lot to cover the distance from one to another.
Drink and eat: Have a picnic at the Parc Güell. Besides the main part that is mostly overcrowded the park extends further and you can find a nice calm place with great view and some street music to sit and have a break…
Get there: Barcelona has great Metro connections… Parc Güell is a little bit far for a walk so take the underground. If you like walking (a lot) and have time you can just walk in the city from one building to another. Or rent bicycles to see more.
Price: Seeing the buildings from the outside is free… To get inside you will have to pay for everything, but its definitely worth it! They have reduced prices for children and students…
Do: Book online in advance for the Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell… Its very easy and you won’t have to wait in line for hours. Those places get very crowded and even early in the mornings people wait in lines. With a booking they will give you a specific time and you’ll get in without waiting.
My tip: I really love the Casa Batllo. It tells the story about St. George (the patron saint of Catalonia) who killed a dangerous dragon. If you pay to go inside you’ll get information about the full story and how the rooms were used. Also you’ll have a stunning view from the rooftop.
